Detangling
Detangling hair: a ritual that many of us dread…
This step is often an unpleasant moment when we count the hairs that have been pulled out by the brush, praying that there are some left on our heads.
Rest assured, it’s perfectly normal to lose hair when brushing. On average, we lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day. Hair goes through a life cycle. At the end of this cycle, the hair dies and naturally detaches from the scalp, leaving room for new, young and strong hair.
Choose the right brush to detangle your hair gently
Brushing hair is a simple gesture, but it requires the use of a good styling tool.
In fact, many unsuitable or low-quality hair brushes have the unfortunate and little-known habit of breaking and even pulling hair out hair when detangling.
Why is this?
Often because the tips are too thick and don't effectively separate the knots from the hair. The knots get stuck around the bristles of the hair brush, immediately pulling out the most fragile or even normal hairs!
Another recurring problem with hair brushes is the arrangement. Depending on how the bristles are placed on the handle or the inflatable cushion, some hair can get caught under the spikes and easily pull out while brushing. This is unfortunately the case on most hair brushes in the world due to the fact that they are stacked from top to bottom and not from bottom to top.
La Bonne Brosse’s 100% boar bristle or nylon fiber brushes guarantee a gentle brushing that will give your hair strength and vitality, without ever pulling it out.
The best way to detangle your hair
After choosing the right brush for your hair, it is essential to use the right techniques when detangling your hair.
Start by detangling the ends of your hair, working your way up to the roots. If you start brushing your hair from the top of your head instead of the bottom, you'll pull the knots down and tighten them. When you get to the bottom of the hair, the knots are so tight that they cannot be untangled and will tear or break the hair fiber.
Once the ends of the hair have been detangled one by one, the rest can be brushed without fear while enjoying the massaging sensations provided by the tips of the hair brush on the scalp.
Some dry and fragile hair needs extra moisture before brushing. To do this, nourish the hair fiber with silicone-free products. The hair will have a glossy effect which will let you detangle the lengths without breaking them!
The frizz phenomenon
Frizz isn't just a curly hair nightmare. Humidity in the air or hormonal changes can also alter the texture of the fiber and create, often at the top of the forehead or on the upper layers, this "frizzy" effect that is not always to our liking...
Good news, regular brushing with our boar bristle hair brushes can help re-hydrate the hair fiber and discipline these unruly layers.
