What are the dimensions of a brush?
+

Our brushes are available in two formats:

La Bonne Brosse measures 21 cm in length and weighs approximately 150 g. It features 11 rows of bristles, offering a generous brushing surface and an exceptional sensory experience.

La Petite Brosse measures 17 cm in length and weighs around 110 g, depending on the model. It includes 7 rows of bristles.

Its compact size makes it the perfect companion for daily touch-ups — it slips easily into your handbag and follows you wherever you go.

What is my hairbrush made of ?
+

Each Bonne Brosse is crafted with exceptional attention to detail, using high-quality, responsible materials sourced with care:

Handle: Made from biodegradable cellulose acetate, produced in France.

This noble, durable material is derived from 70% plant fibres (wood pulp and cotton) and sourced from the Jura region. It is entirely free of petrochemicals and fully biodegradable.

Boar bristles:

100% natural, organic fibres rich in keratin, responsibly sourced from Southeast Asia.

Boar bristles are uniquely anallergic, highly resilient, and naturally anti-static.

To date, there is no synthetic alternative that replicates their performance — we continue to work with industry partners to develop one, just as was done in the makeup brush sector a decade ago.

Being made entirely of keratin, these bristles have the unique ability to absorb sebum from the scalp and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft, enhancing shine and vitality.

Nylon fibres:

Ultra-fine, high-quality French nylon bristles, entirely vegan and among the most refined available on the market.

In models N.03 and N.04, each nylon bristle is topped with a hand-applied epoxy bead, offering a soothing and effective scalp massage.

Natural rubber cushion:

The comfort and efficiency of the brushing experience are intimately linked to the softness and “rebound” (shore level) of the rubber cushion supporting the bristles.

We’ve selected the most supple shore quality — offering a perfect balance of flexibility and bounce, ensuring a breakage-free, ultra-comfortable brushing experience that adapts naturally to the contours of the scalp and neck.

What are your combs made of ?
+

Our detangling comb is handcrafted in the Jura region of France and made from 100% cellulose acetate — a strong yet refined material.

While highly durable, your comb deserves care, just as it takes care of your hair.

Because cellulose acetate is a noble and gentle material, it may become fragile if dropped on hard surfaces such as tile floors or in the shower. We recommend handling it with care to preserve its beauty over time.

Whether your hair is thick or fine, straight or curly, this comb is perfectly suited for all hair types, making it an elegant and effective everyday essential.

How to care for your brush ?
+

A Bonne Brosse is a lifelong investment — take care of it as it takes care of you.

Here are a few simple tips to preserve its beauty and performance over time:

– If your brush is made with boar bristles, we recommend not immersing it in water or using soap to clean it (with the exception of our N.04 and N.07 models, which are made entirely of nylon and are water-friendly). That said, it is perfectly safe to use your boar bristle brush on damp hair.

– If your brush develops a slight scent, it is likely due to moisture on the boar bristles.

As a natural, hydrophobic fibre, boar hair resists water. This natural resistance may occasionally release a mild scent — but don’t worry, it will fade with a few uses.

– You can continue to use your brush on damp hair, but we advise gently towel-drying your hair first. This helps:

• to detangle more gently — the wetter the hair, the more elastic and fragile it becomes, increasing the risk of breakage

• to avoid saturating the boar bristles with moisture

After use on damp hair, allow your brush to air dry — ideally bristles facing down.

– We also recommend avoiding strong heat sources such as powerful hairdryers on our brushes that contain nylon fibres, as excessive heat can damage them.

If you're looking to achieve a blow-dry, we suggest our N.05 round brush, made entirely of boar bristles, for a smooth and natural result.

What should I do in case of head lice?
+

If this ever occurs, here’s what we recommend:

  • Remove any hair from your boar bristle brush
  • Clean the brush carefully by following our detailed care instructions [available here].
  • Place the brush in a freezer-safe bag, then into the freezer for 48 hours.

This method helps neutralise any potential lice or nits without compromising the integrity of your brush.

How come the boar bristles on my brush aren't all the same shape?
+

Our brushes are made with high-quality natural boar bristles, which means each fiber varies slightly in thickness and resilience — this natural diversity is precisely what allows the bristles to grip and glide along each strand of hair, adapting to the unique texture of your hair.

The nylon fibers we've selected are exceptionally soft and gentle on the scalp, offering a soothing massage that stimulates microcirculation without irritation.

Combined with our expert feathering technique, this blend of flexibility and structure ensures highly effective brushing.

You may notice that some of the finer boar bristles shift slightly over time — this is entirely normal and does not affect the performance of your brush. On the contrary, it’s a sign that your brush is alive and working with your hair.

Thanks to our ultra-supple natural rubber cushion, each bristle is free to move and adjust during brushing, perfectly following the contours of your scalp.

If needed, the bristles will gradually return to their original shape, and you can gently guide them back into place with your fingertips.

Why do my hair become static after brushing?
+

Depending on your hair type, the friction caused by our exceptionally dense bristle placement — designed to catch and care for every strand — may sometimes generate static electricity.

This is a natural reaction, especially if the hair is dry or lacks moisture.

The good news is: the more you brush and care for your hair, the less frequent this effect should become over time.

In the meantime, we recommend lightly dampening your hands and running them through your hair just after brushing.

This simple gesture will immediately eliminate static, allowing you to continue enjoying the full benefits of your hairbrush — with no flyaways.

Where do the boar bristles come from?
+

We are committed to sourcing our materials responsibly and have made a conscious decision not to work with industrial or intensive farming operations.

Instead, we have chosen an upcycled supply chain — similar to that used for certain leathers.

Our partner collects the bristles from animals that were originally part of the local food supply chain in Southeast Asian farming communities.

These animals are not bred or slaughtered for their bristles, which is a key ethical point for us.

That said, as the bristle is still of animal origin, we want every customer to be able to choose a brush that aligns with their values and preferences.

This is why we have also developed vegan alternatives, such as our N.04 and N.07 brushes, crafted entirely with ultra-fine, high-performance nylon fibres — offering a cruelty-free option without compromising on quality.

Brushing
The sustainable gesture for the beauty of your hair

Brushing is the only "mechanical" care gesture that combines both beauty and health for your hair. It provides the fibers with protection, lightness, and shine while offering a revitalizing scalp massage that densifies the hair over time.

Just 3 minutes of brushing per day can reduce your hair product needs by up to 50%.

Thanks to brushing, you take control of your hair, drastically reduce your cosmetic usage, and do wonders for yourself as well as for the planet.

Why choose La Bonne Brosse?

Well-being, health, and beauty: an effective hair brushing routine offers three benefits in one simple gesture. Ideal for stimulating and nourishing the scalp, detangling and protecting the hair, as well as relaxing through self-massage, this ancient ritual is just as essential today. But how can you achieve beautiful hair? First, by choosing the best hairbrush perfectly suited to your needs and hair type. Whether you opt for boar bristle brushes or nylon fiber brushes, La Bonne Brosse models are designed for all hair types and profiles. Now, all that’s left is to find your new ally!

What is the best hairbrush?

It all depends on your hair type. So don’t hesitate to perform a hair diagnosis to select a model tailored to you. For example, a boar bristle hairbrush is ideal for fine hair, while a 100% nylon brush will be much more effective for thick hair.

How to brush your hair properly

First and foremost, by doing it often enough—at least three times a week and twice a day. Make sure, during each brushing session, to start at the temples and work your way towards the back of the head, then restart from the top of the head and move towards the nape. And all of this with your head down to properly distribute the natural oils!
